Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
  • Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for business entities.
  • Late renew through NIPR's Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.
  • Print Licenses Electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • One (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) that holds an active resident or non-resident license in Iowa is required on the application with the exception of Third Party Administrators.

  • Business Entity Surplus Lines Producer applicants must supply a Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) that is actively licensed in Iowa for Property and Casualty and Surplus Lines.

  • All applications will defer to the state for review. The state will request a copy of the contract for review. In order to obtain the Business Entity Public Adjuster license, the DRLP must hold an active individual Public Adjuster license which holds the minimum bond amount of $20,000 per IAC 191-55.10(1)”a”.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

  • Late renewals only apply to Third Party Administrators up to one (1) year past expiration date.
