Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
- Submit renewals for surplus lines of authority.
- Submit Non Resident Adjuster Renewal(NRAR) through Non Resident Renewal (NRR) application for business entities.
- Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewals Application.
- Print Licenses Electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Submit Partial renewals.
Business Rules
At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer must be listed on the renewal application.
The designated responsible producers must cumulatively cover the lines of authority on the business renewal application. This excludes self-storage insurance, surplus lines, portable electronics, and limited lines reciprocal.
Portable electronics applicants must enter at least one (1) designated responsible producer that actively holds a portable electronics limited lines license and/or a Producer license with property & casualty line of authority.
Surplus lines applicants must enter a designated responsible producer that actively holds a surplus lines license in Indiana.
Limited line reciprocal applicants must enter a designated responsible producer that actively holds a limited lines reciprocal license or a producer property & casualty and/or personal lines license.
Applicant must hold equivalent license in resident state to renew surplus lines authority.
A Non-resident Independent Adjuster or Independent Adjuster – Designated Home State Indiana licensee may not renew if the licensee holds an active Indiana Non-resident Public Adjuster license.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.

Renewal Periods
- Note: Licenses renew biennially on the last day of the month license was issued.
All License Classes Except Surplus Lines
Renewal period
Starts: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date of license. Ends: Expiration date. Renewal Grace Period: Up to thirty (30) days past expiration date.
Late renewal period
Thirty one (31) days to one (1) year past expiration date.
Surplus Lines
Renewal period
Starts: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date of license. Ends: Expiration date. Renewal Grace Period: Up to thirty (30) days past expiration date.
