Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Virginia, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Virginia, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To cancel or surrender a line of authority, download and complete the appropriate form from the SCC Forms page. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.

To report a legal name change for an individual or entity, download and complete the Service Request Form (Form 5001) from the SCC Forms page. Submit the form to the address on the document.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
To submit changes to agency associations and for Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs) use the Virginia Producers portal.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
Virginia doesn’t require reporting on changes to Owners, Partners, Officers or Directors.

Moving from Virginia to another state:
You’ll need a clearance letter, which when processed, terminates all active licenses and appointments in Virginia.
