License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Rhode Island, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Rhode Island, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To cancel or surrender a line of authority, email a cancellation request to DBR.InsLic@DBR.RI.gov. Include the licensee’s full name and license number and/or the line(s) of authority they wish to cancel.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For updates related to Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), email DBR.InsLic@DBR.RI.gov. Include the Rhode Island license number or National Producer Number (NPN) for all parties involved in the change.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
To make updates to Owners, Partners, Officers or Directors, email DBR.InsLic@DBR.RI.gov. Include the officer titles and if applicable the Rhode Island license number or NPN for all parties involved in the change.
