License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Minnesota, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Minnesota, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.
Print a license
To print your license, access your state’s license print tool and follow the instructions on the page.
Find current producer licensing information
To access up-to-date information from the Minnesota Department of Commerce:
Resident: Visit the Resident Producers page.
Non-resident: Visit the Non-resident Producers page.
Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To surrender a license or delete a line of authority, complete the Request for Voluntary Surrender of Minnesota Producer or Adjuster License form. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.

To report a legal name change for an individual or entity, visit the Update an Active License page on the Minnesota Department of Commerce website.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), visit the Minnesota Producer portal.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
Complete the Notification of Change in Owner, Partner, Officer, or Director for Business Entity Insurance Licensee form. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.
Understand residency type changes
For residency type changes, submit updates to the Minnesota Department of Insurance at Licensing.Commerce@State.MN.us.
