Understand residency type changes
Colorado residency changes cannot be completed entirely through NIPR. The process varies depending on whether you are moving to or from Colorado.
Moving from Colorado
If you are establishing residency in another state, first contact the insurance department in your new resident state for instructions on obtaining your new resident producer license. Each state has its own residency change requirements and may require changes to your Colorado resident license before you can apply.
After following your new resident state's instructions, you may also need to coordinate with Pearson VUE and the Colorado Division of Insurance to update your Colorado license, depending on your situation.
Moving to Colorado
If you currently hold a Colorado non-resident license, you cannot change your residency to Colorado through NIPR. Contact Pearson VUE and the Colorado Division of Insurance for instructions on changing your license to resident status.
If you do not currently hold a Colorado non-resident license, contact Pearson VUE and the Colorado Division of Insurance for guidance on obtaining a Colorado resident producer license.
