Insurance licenses are issued by each state’s Department of Insurance. NIPR facilitates the application and renewal process, but it does not host, store, or print physical license documents. After your license is issued or renewed, you must use the state’s selected license-printing tool. The state may have their own application, use the NAIC’s State Based Systems, or another vendor such as Sircon/Vertafore).

NIPR provides license-print links as a courtesy and does not provide support for state or vendor printing sites. If you need help printing a license, contact the state directly. You can find state contact information on the state’s overview page.
If your state uses NAIC State Based Systems (SBS)
State Based Systems (SBS) is an online system maintained by the NAIC and used by many state insurance departments for producer licensing and related regulatory functions. For these states, producers and agencies also use SBS to look up license information and print a license copy.
In SBS, you may be able to print one license copy at no charge. Additional copies may have a fee, depending on the state and transaction.
Print a license in SBS
Note: After a state issues or renews a license, it may take 24–48 hours for updates to appear in NIPR’s data. If you don’t see your updated license right away, try again later.
- Select your Jurisdiction (state).
- Select the Entity type (Individual or Business Entity).
- For individuals: Enter your Last name.
- Choose an Identifier (NPN or License Number) and enter the number.
- For individuals: Enter the last 4 digits of your SSN.
- For businesses: Enter the FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to print your license.
Troubleshooting
If you have issues printing from SBS, contact the SBS helpdesk. NIPR does not manage or provide support for license printing on SBS.
