Other Important Dates

  • Appointment Renewal Invoices and the list of appointment renewals due will be available on the NIPR website beginning the morning of January 5, 2025, through 4:00 PM Central Time March 15, 2025. NIPR website link is: https://nipr.com/products-and-services/nipr-gateway/company-appointment-renewals
  • Invoices will not be displayed or made available for payment on the NIPR website after 4:00 PM Central Time March 15, 2025.
  • If the appointment renewal invoice is not paid by the due date the appointments will be terminated and the company must submit new appointment requests for each producer, they would like appointed with their company.
  • Appointment terminations can only be processed for appointments that are shown as active on the PDB at the time the termination transaction is sent to NIPR.
  • Termination requests for individual appointments that are not to be renewed must be completed before 4:00 PM Central Time on December 27, 2024.
  • Appointments added on or after December 27, 2024, will not be included on this year’s invoice.

  • Producer: Iowa State Retaliatory Appointment Renewal Fee is charged based on the appointer’s state of domicile, not by LOA.

Iowa State Retaliatory Appointment Renewal Fees

  • Retaliatory fee is charged based on the appointer's state of domicile on the Producer's Database (PDB). Iowa does not charge fees based on LOA but rather a retaliatory fee is charged based on the appointer's state of domicile.  (See fee matrix below)
  • No late fees, no grace period, no late renewals. 
  • NIPR Renewal processing fee will equal one percent of the total state fee charged with a minimum of $5 and maximum of $1000.

Standard Rules

Business Rules

  • Electronic processing through NIPR is mandatory and continuation invoices cannot be paid directly to the Department of Insurance.
  • Companies will not be allowed to terminate any appointments on the list, once the invoice and list has been generated and made available.
  • Electronic payment options chosen through NIPR will immediately reflect the invoices as paid and NIPR will forward payment and renewal transactions to the state within 24 hours of that payment.
  • Appointment Renewal and NIPR processing fees are non-refundable.
  • If the appointment renewal invoice is not paid by the due date the appointments will be terminated and the company must submit new appointment requests for each producer they would like appointed with their company.
  • Appointment Fees are Retaliatory based on the company's state of domicile
  • Only appointments for producers with active licenses on PDB will be renewed.
  • Appointment terminations can only be processed for appointments that are shown as active on the PDB at the time the termination transaction is sent to NIPR.
  • Please contact Iowa Department of Insurance at producer.licensing@iid.iowa.gov if you have a dispute regarding a specific appointment and documentation to verify you previously terminated the appointment.
  • Payments for Iowa Appointment Renewals must be received by NIPR through the electric options made available. Please contact the Iowa Department of Insurance, Producer Licensing Division at (515) 654-6565 with questions.
