Effective Friday March 15, 2019 Connecticut Department of Insurance added Fraternal Agent, Certified Insurance Consultant. Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager and PA 187 Travel to NIPR's electronic applications.

 

Connecticut's Adjuster/Appraiser renewal period will open April 1 through June 30, 2019. Please review the Connecticut Adjuster and Appraiser Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the Departments website.

Business Rules (Individual)

Applicant must renew license before amending.

Applicant cannot late renew if status of license is inactive. Applicant must reinstate or reapply through the NIPR's Non-Resident License (NRL) application.

Late renewals for licenses with a status reason code other than Non-Renewal are not allowed.

Connecticut allows a late renewal period for Insurance Producers and PA 187 Travel of one (1) year after expiration date with additional fees. After one (1) year applicant will need to reapply through the Resident License (NRL) Application.

Surplus Lines, Casualty Adjusters, Public Adjusters, Certified Insurance Consultant, Fraternal Agents, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager and MVPD Appraisers cannot late renew. On the day after license expiration date, the applicant must reinstate.

Applicants applying for the Variable LOA must supply FINRA CRD number on application.

Applicants renewing Variable Lines of Authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application.

Insurance producer Life LOA must be actively held or renewed in conjunction with Insurance Producer Variable Life and Variable Annuities.

Fraternal Agent Life LOA must be actively held or renewed in conjunction with Fraternal Agent Variable Life and Variable Annuities

Casualty Adjuster, MVPD Appraisers, Public Adjuster, PA 187 Travel, Certified Insurance Consultant, Fraternal Agent, Premium Finance Company, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager and Surplus Lines applicants cannot enter 'Doing Business As '(DBA) name.

Reinsurance Intermediary Brokers and Reinsurance Intermediary Managers will need to complete required forms. Send completed form to: cid.licensing@ct.gov. Please direct Reinsurance Intermediary Broker and Reinsurance Intermediary Manager  questions to cid.licensing@ct.gov Attn: Reinsurance Application. Only Nonresidents need to complete one (1) of the forms below

Applicant must hold active single lines of Property and Casualty as an Insurance Producer or renew simultaneously to be eligible for Surplus Lines renewal.

An affiliation is not required, and the applicant may procced past the "Affiliations" page on the uniform application.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Renewal applications will be reviewed and processed by the Connecticut Insurance Department. Most applications will be processed within 7-10 business days. The applicant will receive email notification from Connecticut once the LICENSE has been APPROVED. Check for the approved license at:  www.ct.gov/cid.  Under "General Information," select Verify and Print a License."

Business Rules (Business Entity)

Insurance Producer and PA 187 Travel applicants that have been inactive for more than one year past expiration date may reinstate through (NRL) application.

Casualty Adjusters, MVPD Appraisers, Public Adjusters, Surplus Lines and Third-Party Administrators licensees cannot late renew. On the day after license expiration date, the applicant must reinstate through Non Resident License application.

Casualty Adjuster applicants cannot apply for more than one line of authority within license class on the same application.

Applicants renewing Insurance Producer Variable Life and Variable Annuity must actively hold or renew Insurance Producer Life.

Applicants renewing Surplus Lines must actively hold both single lines of Property and Casualty under insurance producer license class prior to submitting the Surplus Lines Broker application.

Casualty Adjuster, MVPD Appraisers, Public Adjuster, Surplus Lines, PA 187 Travel, Certified Insurance Consultant, Premium Finance Company, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager and Third-Party Administrators applicants cannot enter 'Doing Business As '(DBA) name.

At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application, excluding Third Party Administrators and Premium Finance Companies.

Insurance Producer, Surplus Lines, Casualty Adjusters, Public Adjusters, MVPD Appraisers, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager and Certified Insurance Consultant require at least one active DRLP's that hold same license type but do not require lines to match in order to renew.

At least one Designated Responsible Licensed Individual listed must have either an active PA 187 Travel or Insurance Producer license type with a Property, Casualty, Life, Accident and Health or Sickness or Personal Lines line of authority if renewing PA 187 Travel.

All Third Party Administrator applicants must provide complaint contact information.

Third Party Administrator applicants must submit documentation to the Connecticut Insurance Department as required by Connecticut Public Act 11-58 38a-720. Surety bond amount is $500,000. Attachments for "Yes" responses to questions 1-5 should be attached to the NIPR Warehouse. All other attachments should be scanned and emailed to: cid.tpa@ct.gov.

Premium Finance Company applicants will need to complete required forms. Send completed forms to: cid.financial@ct.gov. Premium Finance Company Questions can be directed to Ken Cotrone (860) 297-3994. Business Entities must complete Power of Attorney Corporation or Power of Attorney LLC Form AND Premium Finance Renewal Form
