Business Rules (Individual)
Applicant must provide a valid email address as their point of contact for all Washington State licensing matters.
Applicant must renew all active lines of authority (LOAs).
Applicant must contact the department in writing (email preferred) if LOAs need to be removed and not renewed.
The NIPR Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application may not be used to renew if licenses classes other than insurance producer or surplus line broker are active. Please renew through Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner by going to the state website.
After your license has been issued but prior to representing a business entity, you must be affiliated. Affiliations must be completed by the business entity on the
Washington state website.
Applicant cannot renew an insurance producer license if they hold any active LOAs other than life, disability, property, casualty, personal lines, or Variable Life and Variable Annuity.
Applicant cannot renew if they hold any active license class outside of insurance producer or surplus line broker. Licensee must hold exactly one active Washington license class to be eligible to renew. If you hold both a producer and surplus lines broker license please renew through Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner by going to the state website.
The renewal period begins sixty (60) days prior to the license expiration date, and renewal is no longer permitted through NIPR less than ten (10) days prior to the expiration date. Applicants must go to the State website to renew if less than ten (10) days prior to the license expiration date.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via secure email (contact OIC for information on how to submit).
