Renewal Period (Individual)

Viatical Settlement Investment Agent Forty-five (45) days prior to expiration date. Up to 30 days past license expiration date
Surplus Lines Agent Forty-five (45) days prior to expiration date. Up to 30 days past license expiration date
Automobile Club Agent Forty-five (45) days prior to expiration date. Up to 30 days past license expiration date

Business Rules (Individual)

Applicant's name, birth date, Tax ID, license number, and addresses must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

Applicable license must have the status of active or expired to be eligible for renewal.

Life must be renewed when renewing variable contracts in Tennessee.

Surplus lines agent applicant must have an active producer license in Tennessee prior to renewing surplus lines agent license.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Applicants renewing the license classes of viatical settlement broker, viatical settlement provider, viatical settlement investment agent, surplus lines agent, and automobile club agent have a thirty (30) day grace period after the license expiration date to renew the license, with no additional fee.

Public adjuster applicants can late renew the day after the expiration date until sixty (60) days after expiration date with a late fee and no break in licensure. Applicants may renew sixty-one (61) days after expiration date and up to three hundred and sixty-five (365) days with a late fee and a break in licensure. The new issue date will be the date the application is submitted.
