Puerto Rico application processing may be delayed due to temporarily closing of the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance for severe weather conditions.

* Business entities will renew using Non-Resident Renewals (NRR) rather than Non-Resident Adjuster Renewals (NRAR).

Thirty (30) days prior to license expiration date. Expiration date. One (1) day after expiration date. Thirty (30) days after expiration date.

Puerto Rico will allow reinstatement of license if:

  • license is not active
  • expiration is greater than thirty (30) days and up to five (5) years
  • applicant uses NIPR’s Non-Resident Adjuster License (NRAL) Application to reinstate

Note: Please allow up to 1-2 business days after application has been approved for license printing availability.

Business Rules

There must be no serious:

  • Regulatory Information Retrieval System (RIRS) actions for the applicant since last renewal.
  • Special Activities Database (SAD) actions for the applicant since last renewal.

If so, please contact the state for assistance.

Applicant may reapply for license if license is inactive and application date is more than 30 days but less than 5 years past expiration through NRAL.

If applicant has had a license suspended or revoked in any state applicant must contact Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico directly for further direct direction to amend or apply for a license.

Applicant with voluntary surrender status reason must reapply through NRAL.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
