Prorating Rules:

A renewal fee is prorated if the total number of days of renewal granted to the applicant is less than or greater than a full two (2) years (seven hundred and thirty (730) days) (one (1) year for viatical settlement brokers, three hundred and sixty-five (365) days) as determined by the calculated expiration date, which is final day of the individual applicant's birth month two (2) years in the future. If the license is renewed for a full two (2) years or seven hundred thirty (730) days (one (1) year or three hundred and sixty-five (365) days for viatical settlement broker), there is no prorating and the normal fee applies (see table below). Prorating rule should also take into account leap years by adding one (1) day to the calculation, i.e. seven hundred and thirty (730) days would change to seven hundred and thirty-one (731) in leap years.

If it is determined that the renewal fee should be prorated, the prorated fee is calculated as:

  • Applies to all individual license types: Normal licensing fee (see table above) - [(730 (365 for viatical settlement broker) days - license duration (difference in days between calculation start date and calculated expiration date) x prorated fee*] *prorated fee calculated by taking normal licensing fee divided by 730. This will be the cost per day for that particular license type Example: cost per day for an insurance producer license = $100/730 = 0.1370 or cost per day for an insurance producer license including Variable = $200/730 = 0.2740
