Applicant must not hold an active resident license in another state.
Applicant must provide residence, business and mailing addresses. Residence address must not contain a P.O. Box.
Non-citizens of the U.S. must have a resident license for selling insurance in one of the fifty (50) U.S. states.
Applicant’s National Producer Number (NPN) must match current PDBrecord, if applicable.
Applicants for the variable line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application.
Variable applicants must hold Mississippi life license or apply for life license in order to be eligible for variable life and variable annuity products.
Licenses with status reason of canceled for cause (1689), revoked (12), and suspended (11) cannot reapply for a license.
If applicant has status reason Failure to Renew, they are sent to Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application if within one (1) year of the expiration date. If over one (1) year, they go through normally. Applicants with no status reasons should not be allowed to reinstate.
Applicants applying for surplus lines insurance producer must already hold an active insurance producer with LOA property, casualty, and/or personal lines
Surplus lines applicants must already hold at least two (2) active appointments on PDB in Mississippi.
At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application. This excludes portable electronics entity.
The DRLP listed on the application must have an active Mississippi license. This excludes portable electronics entity, business entity adjuster, and public adjuster entity.
Business entity public adjuster applicants must provide a DRLP that is actively licensed in Mississippi as a public adjuster.
Licenses with a status reason of canceled for cause, revoked and suspended may not reapply for a license.
Limited Lines Travel Insurance Producer Business Entity applicants must provide a DRLP that is actively licensed in MS for a Limited Lines Insurance Producer with Travel or Insurance Producer with Property and Casualty.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
