Business Rules (Individual)

Applicants for major lines and credit, car rental and travel licenses do not renew. Maine licenses are perpetual. A new hard copy license will not be sent unless requested.

Maine populates the issue date at the license level.

Applicants applying for resident renewals can only choose the resident adjuster license class.

Late fees are applicable the first day after the renewal date.

Addresses will not be updated as part of the renewal process. If a new address is entered as part of a renewal, it will not be updated in the Maine record. A separate request must be submitted to the Bureau of Insurance. Address changes can be made through the state website, under Producer Services, Address Changes.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
