As of February 14, 2014, only the following individual or business entity licenses are allowed for renewal via NIPR:

  1. Non-resident surplus lines broker
  2. Non-resident producer who holds a non-resident surplus lines broker. If you have a non-resident producer license but do not hold a non-resident surplus lines broker license, renew your non-resident producer license on Hawaii’s website.

Renewal Period (Individual)

License Class Renewal Period Begins Renewal Period Ends
All License Classes Two (2) months prior to expiration date, on the first day of the month. Sixteenth (16) day of birth month. Those born in odd months renew in odd years, those born in even months renew in even years.

License Printing

Hawaii does not offer online license printing. Licensees must contact the state.

Business Rules (Individual)

Applicant must be eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant’s date of birth.

All phone and fax numbers entered on application, including authorized submitter information, must contain ten (10) digits.

Applicant must provide a valid business email address and business phone number.

Applicants must not have a P.O. Box as their residence or business address.

Applicant must renew all active lines held at renewal. No partial renewals are allowed.

When renewing surplus line broker license, applicant must only renew casualty, property or personal lines.

In order for a producer to renew a license, the Producer must also have an active surplus lines broker license on PDB. If they do not hold a surplus lines broker license, they should renew their producer license on Hawaii's web site, https://www.ehawaii.gov/dcca/hils/renew/exe/insrenew.cgi.

If license went inactive before the expiration date, the applicant must contact the Hawaii Division of Insurance.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
