Applicant must be one of the following legal business types:
- Sole Proprietorship
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Unincorporated Association
Applicant with a provisional status reason will be deferred for state review.
Applicant can apply for reinstatement through NIPR’s Non-Resident License Application with an additional fee up to 365 days after license expiration.
Applicant must hold equivalent license in resident state to apply for surplus lines of authority.
Applicant must hold active property or casualty line of authority or be applying simultaneously for property or casualty to apply for bail bond.
At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer must be provided on application and have an active resident or non-resident license in the District of Columbia.
All listed designated responsible producers must cumulatively cover the lines of authority on the application.
Designated responsible producers with title attorney may serve as the designated responsible producer for a title producer application.
Please Note: Applicant should not attempt to license a designated responsible producer and the business entity on the same day. Please submit the license application for the designated responsible producer first. Applicant may submit the license application for the business entity after the designated responsible producer’s data has been loaded to the Producer Database (PDB), usually one (1) or two (2) business days after the license has been approved.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.
