FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NIPR
ANNOUNCES NEW FUNCTION FOR ADDRESS CHANGE REQUESTS SAN FRANCISCO (June 2, 2007) — The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) is ready to make the individual insurance producer licensing process even easier. At the Summer National Meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in San Francisco, NIPR announced the up-coming release of the Address Change Request (ACR), it's latest product designed to further support the uniformity initiatives of the NAIC. The ACR will allow individual producers to submit an online request for change of address in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As part of the current, often complicated address change process, each state has a different procedure that may take months to complete. The ACR will allow individuals to make address changes for any state in which they are actively licensed, and NIPR will collect any fees required by the state for processing the change or for issuing a corrected license to the producer. It will be the state’s responsibility to give the updated license to the producer. There will be no transaction fee for this new product. "The NIPR Board of Directors decided NIPR will not charge for this service," said NIPR Executive Director Maryellen Waggoner. "ACR will provide such a benefit to state regulators and industry, and we don't want a transaction fee to prevent someone from using this service." Producers and authorized users will be able to submit individual producer address changes through the NIPR Web site, www.NIPR.com.
About NIPR Incorporated in October 1996, the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) is a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). NIPR developed and implemented the Producer Database (PDB) and Electronic Appointments/Terminations (formerly PIN).
