NIPR CELEBRATES PROCESSING MILESTONE

The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) is pleased to announce that the Gateway has passed a major milestone — the processing of its 50 millionth transaction — proving that, more and more, people are turning to NIPR for their producer licensing needs.

This accomplishment comes on the heels of a major show of support from the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL). Last week, at their spring meeting in Washington, D.C., NCOIL’s Executive Committee passed a unanimous Resolution of Support urging all states to fully implement NIPR services to eliminate unnecessary hurdles in producer licensing.

NCOIL's support shows that NIPR's hard work to create a “one-stop shopping” experience is paying off. Looking to the future, on the horizon are many exciting new electronic solutions, including:

  • Expansion of all NIPR initiatives to every state;
  • Introduction of electronic attachments with licensing applications;
  • Electronic submission of administrative actions; and
  • Enhancements to the producer appointment process.

Later this year, NIPR will begin utilizing the first of many new technologies – a result of the NAIC multi-million dollar investment in the State Producer Licensing Re-engineering (SPLR) project. This new technology is just the first step to providing the power needed to prepare for greater use of NIPR’s products and services in support of state-based insurance regulation.

About NIPR

Incorporated in October 1996, the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) is a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). NIPR developed and implemented the Producer Database (PDB) and Electronic Appointments/Terminations (formerly PIN). NIPR is governed by a board of directors structured to include seven members representing the NAIC and six industry members representing a cross section of the insurance industry.
