Gateway Technological Improvements Offer Greater Licensing
Options
KANSAS CITY,
Mo. (March 9, 2010) — The National Insurance Producer Registry
(NIPR) recently processed its 100 millionth licensing transaction
through its Gateway tool, the communication network that
electronically links state insurance departments with the entities
they regulate.
“Hitting this benchmark is a key milestone for NIPR
and demonstrates that our products and services are vital to the
daily operations of the insurance industry,” said NIPR Executive
Director Maryellen Waggoner. “Given the clear demand for
technological advancement from insurance carriers, producers and the
states, we stand committed to expanding and improving our digital
capabilities.”
The Gateway facilitates compliance activities such
as new licensing, license renewals, appointments/terminations and
address changes between producers and state insurance regulators.
The Gateway is designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency
of the state licensing process among all parties through automation,
standardization and reciprocity.
The Attachments Warehouse, which works in tandem
with the Gateway, is the most recent addition to NIPR’s product
suite. Thousands of transactions, including Background Questions
Supporting Documentation and Reporting of Actions were submitted to
the state licensing departments in the past year through this
tool.
To meet market needs, NIPR continues to upgrade
their capabilities, including recently adding 96 significant
initiatives such as business entity licensing and limited lines to
their online licensing suite.
"Our vision of one-stop shopping is becoming more
of a reality as we actively monitor trends and expand our digital
offerings,” said Waggoner. “With real-time licensing information
already available in 25 percent of NIPR’s jurisdictions, we are
squarely focused on expanding these solutions to our network.”
This includes making technological improvements to
streamline the transaction process for the states and the industry,
enabling NIPR to quickly adapt to an ever-changing environment.
